FELLOWSHIP: training in a subspecialty such as Pediatric-Cardiology, Pediatric-Neonatology, Surgery-Vascular Surgery

INTERN, INTERNSHIP: first year of residency (specialty) training

MATCH: short for the National Resident Matching Program; medical students apply to several residency programs and then are paired (matched) with one

MCAT: Medical College Admission Test

NEONATOLOGY: a subspecialty of pediatrics; a branch of medicine that deals with development, care, and diseases of newborn infants.

NICU: neonatal intensive care unit

PEDIATRICS: branch of medicine that deals with the development, care, and diseases of children

RESIDENCY: training in an area of specialization such as pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, cardiology
